A new shaving brush has been created by fusing the techniques of Arita ware and Kumano Brushes. The holder represents Ko-Imari ware, which has been cherished for 400 years. The brush utilizes badger hair, smooth in texture.
Manufactured by the internationally-recognized brush workshop "Chikuhodo." A lavishly-finished shaving brush that utilizes more hair than normal brushes. The brush turns soft as it is watered, allowing users to feel its smooth texture. Further, badger hair has a moderate resilience that allows it to create fine bubbles.
The holders are manufactured by Takatoh-kiln, forte in "representing Ko-Imari Ware." The most noted among others is the "Usururi-Soro" that represents Usururi, also known as the visionary technique. It represents the design of "Sometsuke-Hakurozu-Sankyakuzara," a plate selected as important cultural property, in a new form based on its texture.

"Takokarakusa" is a repeated spiral pattern with each line having a suction cup-like design, which had been frequently used in Ko-Imari wares during the Edo period. Although the pattern of Takokarakusa changes over time, the patterns that draw and fill in a contour have been utilized since the early 18th century. Meanwhile, the Torikarakusa distributes the Takokarakusa and designs the white spaces in a well-balanced manner. Further, it utilizes a warm and mat glaze exclusive to Takatoh Kiln, representing Ko-Imari wares' touch at the maximum.

Hanakarakusa is a plant pattern that was introduced to Japan after it passed through the Tang Dynasty, and although it used to be a secondary pattern that decorates the contour of plates and shoulders of vases during the mid-Edo period, the surface area in which the Karakusa pattern was drawn has increased and it gradually became to be drawn throughout the whole area. It is a pattern frequently seen in designs produced during the 18th century. Hanakarakusa, delicate and elegant in design, which regularly arranges flower petals on top of the fluttering leaves, has both gentleness and powerfulness. Further, it expresses the beauty in stroke lines, utilizing a glaze that could clearly represent the strength in the vines.

It may look, at first glance, like the "Takokarakusa," a pattern often used in Ko-Imari wares during the Edo period, it actually is a design called "Gyakukarakusa." While the normal Karakusa fills inside the Karakusa pattern, the Gyakukarakusa leaves the Karakusa pattern and fills the surrounding, white spaces. Gyakukarakusa, which requires a high level of technology and experience, is the most gorgeous among the Ko-Imari paintings and has the strongest presence among others.

It is a product that recreates the technique of Usururi, also known as the "visionary technique," which was applied on the "Sometsuke Shirasagi-zu Sankyaku-zara," the most prominent Nabeshima ware that has also been selected as the country's important cultural property. From the 1690s to 1730s, when Imari and Arita ware produced the most outstanding piece of works, the technique of evenly-painted Dami was at its highest level, and the plate was considered to be a high-quality piece of work that clearly depicts a white heron. Utilizing modern materials and technologies, the product recreates the technique in a new form based on the painting and the texture. Kilns that are able to recreate the Usururi techniques have become very rare in modern times. Further, the representation of heron on a curved surface is a technique unique to the Takatoh kiln, and it truly is a very precious masterpiece.
